Trying to find the perfect denim jacket is one of the hardest quests in life.

Okay maybe not one of “the hardest” but it’s still more difficult than it needs to be. You see all these cool guys and gals on Instagram with their perfectly styled denim jackets complete with enamel pins and next thing you know you’re trawling the depths of Depop trying to find your denim soul-mate. At least, this is what happened to me.

I love denim jackets. I think they make an outfit look so effortless and cool just by throwing one on top of the most basic tshirt and jeans – but the jacket needs to be just right. The right shade of denim, not too small, not totally ripped to shreds etc. Maybe you’re not as picky as I am but I have a sneaky suspicion this is why it took me so long to find a denim jacket I’m truly happy with. I have a reaaaally old denim jacket from Primark that I’ve stayed faithful to for many years but it’s more of a winter denim jacket with its fleecy, faux-sherpa lining which isn’t ideal for summer, even a Scottish “summer”.

I spent many hours searching various high street stores trying to find myself the perfect denim jacket to no avail, they were either too expensive, didn’t have my size, the wrong shade of blue or a mixture of all three. I’m dead picky when it comes to jackets anyway since they tend to be a slightly more expensive item so if I’m going to buy a jacket, I need to be 100% sold on it. Buying one online was a no-go as well due to the fact that I prefer to try my jackets on before I commit to them.

Needless to say, I wasn’t exactly expecting to find the perfect denim jacket in the kids section of New Look.

Well, not the KIDS section but the teen’s 915 section. Yes, I’m the proud owner of a teen’s size 14-15 years denim jacket… lets just bare in mind that I’m 24! Besides the point, it fits perfectly, if a little oversized – meaning I can roll up the sleeves and achieve the “cool” look. I’m obsessed with it. I’ve already added a few of my fave enamel pins and I’ve worn it almost everyday since I bought it. Well, minus the days where I’ve worn blue jeans because lets be real: I’ll never be cool enough for double denim.

Have you been on the quest for a denim jacket lately? Let me know if you managed to find the perfect one/if you also found yours in the kids section…
